 ● un classeur grand format, de 4 cm d’épaisseur, contenant 6 intercalaires et une dizaine de pochettes plastifiées à                 renouveler régulièrement  OU  un trieur grand format à élastiques, contenant 6 compartiments ;

des feuilles simples, grand format, grands carreaux, à renouveler régulièrement ;

● ma trousse au complet, avec notamment des stylos de couleurs, un crayon à papier, une règle, de la colle, des               surligneurs ;

On February 14, 2018, a mass shooting was committed at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. Seventeen people were killed and seventeen more were wounded, making it one of the world's deadliest school massacres.

Some students who began campaigning for gun control legislation also founded the advocacy group Never Again MSD. On March 9, Governor Rick Scott signed a bill that raised the minimum age for buying rifles in Florida to 21, established waiting periods and background checks, allowed for the arming of qualified teachers and the hiring of school police, banned bump stocks and barred some potentially violent or mentally unstable people from possessing guns.

Student Emma González spoke at the Rally to Support Firearm Safety Legislation in Fort Lauderdale, February 17

In the speech she pledged to work with her peers to pressure lawmakers to change the law. "We are going to be the last mass shooting," she proclaimed. "That's going to be Marjory Stoneman Douglas in that textbook, and it's all going to be due to the tireless efforts of the school board, the faculty members, the family members and most importantly the students."

On New Year’s Day, it is warm and sunny in California and many southern states. In these places, there are parades and American football games, called bowl games. Each region has its parade and bowl game. Thousands of people go to watch the Pasadena ‘Tournament of Roses’ parade, and more than seventy million watch it on TV. After the parade, everyone goes to the football stadium to watch the Rose Bowl game.

The last day of the year, New Year’s Eve, is on 31 December.

In the United States and the United Kingdom, many people go to parties, restaurants or nightclubs. For some parties, people wear costumes and masks. At midnight, it is traditional to sing the old Scottish song ‘Auld Lang Syne’. This song celebrates friendship.

In London, lots of people go to Trafalgar Square and wait for the famous bell Big Ben to strike midnight. Some people even jump into the fountains!

In New York City, thousands of people go to Times Square. At midnight, the ‘Times Square Ball’ descends down a flagpole to signal the start of the new year, and the words ‘Happy New Year’ appear on an electronic sign. People cheer and there is a lot of noise.

Dec. 25 - Christmas

Christians in many parts of the world celebrate Christmas on 25 December. This festivity celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ.

When we think of Christmas, we think of the Christmas tree. Today, almost every Christian family has a Christmas tree at home. People decorate the tree with colourful lights and at the top of the tree they usually put a star. They also like to decorate their homes and gardens with other Christmas symbols such as holly and mistletoe. Towns and cities too usually decorate the tress in the parks with colourful lights, and put Christmas decorations in the shopping streets. The shop windows have decorations too

Every year there is a very big Christmas tree in Trafalgar Square in London. It is about 25 metres tall and it is decorated with white lights.

America's most famous Christmas tree is at the Rockefeller Center on Fifth Avenue in New York City. This spectacular Christmas tree has about 5 miles of lights! Every Christmas millions of people go ice skating near the Rockefeller tree.

If you want to buy toys , in London there is a great toy shop called Hamleys. Children and adults love it: there are 6 floors full of toys and interesting games for all ages. Another wonderful toy shop is FAO Schwarz on Fifth Avenue in New York City. It is New York City's favourite toy shop.

In Great Britain and America, people send Christmas cards to their friends and relatives. Many families show all the cards they receive: they put them on the walls in their houses.

Christmas carols and Christmas music are very popular. People sing Christmas carols in church, town centres and sometimes in front of their neighbours' houses.

The traditional Christmas dinner consists of roast turkey and roast vegatbles, followed by special desserts. Typical British desserts are Christmas pudding and mince pies, while in America fruit cake and pumpkin pie are popular. During the Christmas period, other typical foods are roast ham, Yule logs and Christmas cake.

Nov. 23 - THANKSGIVING DAY

The history of Thanksgiving

A few years after the foundation of Jamestown, a group of English Puritans, decided to emigrate to the New World to be free. In England, they were persecuted and they had to hide to practice their religion in secret. They wanted to found a colony where they could practice their religion without persecution.

On September 16, 1620, 102 men, women and children left Plymouth in south-west England on a ship called the Mayflower. Life was very difficult on board the Mayflower. People didn’t have much room or privacy. They couldn’t wash, except with sea water and they couldn’t make fires to cook or keep warm.

They arrived on the north-east coast of North America in November 1620. The “Pilgrim Fathers” ( = the Puritans) called the landing place Plymouth and established a colony there. They immediately built small houses, but it was too late to grow crops. The first winter was very cold and hard: half of them died of disease.

In the spring, the Wampanoag tribe helped the Pilgrims to survive. They taught them how to grow corn and how to hunt and fish. Soon the Pilgrims and the Wampanoag Native Americans became friends. The Pilgrims grew crops and the summer harvest was excellent. By November 1621 everyone had food and a home. There was hope for the future.

William Bradford was the governor of the Pilgrim's colony. He decided to celebrate with a dinner for the Pilgrims and about ninety Native Americans. He wanted to thank God. This was the first Thanksgiving dinner, and it continued for three days.

Today, Thanksgiving is a national holiday in the USA. It is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November.

THANKSGIVING TRADITIONS

- TRAVEL: At Thanksgiving, you want to be with your family. Many people travel long distances by car, train or plane to be with their family. This is a very busy time for travelling!

- FOOD: All the family traditionally take part in the preparation of the dinner. What is the traditional menu? Roast turkey with cranberry sauce, sweet potatoes, corn, apple pie, pumpkin pie...

- THE TURKEY PARDON: The President of the United States receives a live turkey at the White House. He traditionally “pardons” the turkey. It can stay alive and live on a farm.

- MACY'S THANKSGIVING DAY PARADE: It takes place in New York City. There are marching bands, floats, songs and giant balloons. It’s well-known and people watch it on TV.

- FOOTBALL GAMES: Millions of Americans love to play or to watch the football games on Thanksgiving Day.

- GENEROSITY: Thanksgiving is also the occasion to be generous. A lot of people volunteer to serve food or make a donation to the poor and the homeless.

Nov. 24 - Black Friday

Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving Day in the United States. It is a busy shopping day.

Many people have a day off work on Black Friday. Some people use this to make trips to see family members or friends who live in other areas or to go on vacation. Others use it to start shopping for the Christmas season.

Shopping for Christmas presents is popular on Black Friday. Many stores have special offers and lower their prices on some goods, such as toys.

Nov. 20 - Queen Elizabeth II and her husband, the Duke of Edinburgh Prince Philip, celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary

Elizabeth met her future husband, Prince Philip of Greece and Denmark, in 1934 and 1937. They are second cousinsAfter another meeting at the Royal Naval College in Dartmouth in July 1939, Elizabeth – though only 13 years old – said she fell in love with Philip and they began to exchange letters. She was 21 when their engagement was officially announced on 9 July 1947.

The engagement was not without controversy; Philip had no financial standing, was foreign-born (though a British subject who had served in the Royal Navy throughout the Second World War), and had sisters who had married German noblemen with Nazi links.

Before the marriage, Philip renounced his Greek and Danish titles, officially converted from Greek Orthodoxy to Anglicanism, and adopted the style Lieutenant Philip Mountbatten, taking the surname of his mother's British family. Just before the wedding, he was created Duke of Edinburgh and granted the style His Royal Highness.

Elizabeth and Philip were married on 20 November 1947 at Westminster Abbey. Princess Elizabeth was attended by eight bridesmaids.

The royal parties were brought in large carriage processions, the first with The Queen and Princess Margaret and later a procession with Queen Mary. Philip left Kensington Palace with his best man, the Marquess of Milford Haven. Princess Elizabeth arrived at the Abbey with her father, King George, in the Irish State Coach.

The wedding ceremony was officiated by the Archbishop of CanterburyGeoffrey Fisher, and the Archbishop of YorkCyril Garbett. The ceremony was recorded and broadcast by BBC Radio to 200 million people around the world. Elizabeth and Philip then proceeded to Buckingham Palace, where a breakfast was held at the Ball Supper-room. The couple received over 2,500 wedding presents from around the world and around 10,000 telegrams of congratulations.

Upon their marriage, Elizabeth took the title of her husband and became Princess Elizabeth, Duchess of Edinburgh.

Nov. 5 - GUY FAWKES NIGHT

Guy Fawkes Night is a British festivity. It takes place on 5 November.

Who was Guy Fawkes?

The Roman Catholic Church was the most important form of the Christian religion in England from the eighth century. The leader was the Pope, in Rome. But in 1534 the situation changed. King Henry VIII of England wanted to divorce his wife, Catherine of Aragon, because she could not have children, and marry another woman, Anne Boleyn. The Catholic Church did not permit this, so Henry VIII left the Roman Catholic Church and started the Church of England, with himself as its leader.

In 1605 the King - and leader of the Church of England - was James I. He passed laws against Roman Catholics: they had to pay a lot of money if they did not go to the Church of England religious services. A group of Catholics planned to blow up the Parliament in London on 5 November 1605, when the King was present. This plan was called the Gunpowder Plot.

The leader of the plot was Robert Catesby. He and the others put thirty-six barrels of explosives under the Palace of Westminster. Guy Fawkes stayed there and waited to light the fuse.

But because of an anonymous letter the King's soldiers discovered the plot. They searched the Palace of Westminster and found Guy Fawkes with the explosives. They took him to the Tower of London. They wanted the names of the other men, but Fawkes did not speak. They then took Fawkes to King James I, but he still did not speak. Finally, they tortured him, and he told them everything. Soldiers went to arrest the other men, and killed some when they tried to escape. On 30 and 31 January 1606, they hanged Guy Fawkes and another seven men from the plot.

Celebrating Guy Fawkes Night

On the evening of 5 November there are fireworks and bonfires. Guy Fawkes Night is also called Bonfire Night.

Children often make a 'guy'. This is a model of Guy Fawkes. They use old clothes and fill them with newspaper, and they make a head and draw a face on it. They put the 'guy' on the bonfire and burn it.

Some people have bonfires in their gardens. But many people buy tickets and go to a public bonfire and firework display in their own town or city. Children love the noise and the excitement.

On Bonfire Night in Lewes, Sussex, in south-east England, people wear historical costumes from the time of the Gunpowder Plot.

Oct. 31 - HALLOWEEN

Halloween or Hallowe'en (a contraction of All HallowsEvening) is celebrated on 31 October. It begins the three-day observance of Allhallowtide, the time dedicated to remembering the dead, including  saints (hallows) and martyrs.

Halloween traditions originated from ancient Celtic harvest festivals, particularly the Gaelic festival  Samhain.

Halloween activities include trick-or-treating, attending Halloween costume parties, carving pumpkins into jack-o'-lanterns, lighting bonfiresapple bobbingdivination games, playing pranks, visiting haunted attractions, telling scary stories, and watching horror films.

The importance of learning a foreign language

- posséder un vocabulaire suffisant pour comprendre des sujets simples ;

- connaître les règles grammaticales fondamentales et le fonctionnement de la langue étudiée en tenant compte de ses particularités ;

- connaître les règles de prononciation ;

So relax and enjoy!
